United Airlines stepped up once again delivering over 2 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines on a donated cargo-only nonstop flight from Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) to La Aurora International Airport (GUA) in Guatemala City in an effort to help boost the country’s vaccine rate. The shipment follows the Biden Administration goal to share at least 80 million U.S. vaccine doses globally this summer.
United has played an important role in the global supply chain and transportation of medical goods and medical personnel throughout the pandemic, including being the first commercial carrier to transport the coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine into the US last year – and since then carried tens of millions of doses of the vaccine throughout the world.
