Growth continues at Liege Airport

In September 2024, both in terms of aircraft movements and tonnage carried, Liege Airport has done even better than September 2023. LGG has been growing for 9 months in a row! The number of cargo aircraft movements was up 18% on September 2023 (2,267 vs. 1,920). And tonnage rose from 80,282 tons in September 2023 to 89,338 tons in September 2024, a 11% increase!

At international level, as explained by WorldACD: "The YoY increases in both tonnages and rates – in September, Q3 and throughout this year – have clearly been largely driven by Asia Pacific and MESA markets, and these two origin regions look set to be key factors in the final quarter of 2024. (…) there can only add to the pressure on an already stretched air cargo system – facing very strong expected demand and limited available capacity from both of those regions in Q4."

Compliance with customs rules

Torsten Wefers, VP Sales & Marketing  said, it was not only a big success: "It's very important for the market to discuss about consequences of e-commerce on capacities, prices, customs, etc.. In front of 40 cargo airlines and 250 forwarding/logistics providers, the CEO of Belgian customs led a workshop and explained that his customs officers ensure compliance with European rules within business friendly.
