Maersk flies from Cologne/Bonn to the USA

New international cargo customer at Cologne Bonn Airport: the Danish logistics company A.P. Moller-Maersk is now connecting Cologne/Bonn with Greenville-Spartanburg Airport in the USA. Twice a week – always on Thursdays and Sundays – aeroplanes bring cargo to the region in the US state of South Carolina. They mainly transport products for the automotive and healthcare industries.

"With Maersk, we have been able to gain an internationally active logistics company as a strong new partner for our airport, which we are very pleased about," says Thilo Schmid, Managing Director of Flughafen Köln/Bonn GmbH. "This once again underlines the great importance of our location as a global hub for transporting air cargo."

Maersk is an integrated logistics company headquartered in Copenhagen, operating in 130 countries and employing over 100,000 people worldwide. The flights between Cologne/Bonn and Greenville-Spartanburg are organised by Magma Aviation and operated by Air Atlanta Icelandic and ASL Airlines Belgium. The airport's own ground staff services are responsible for handling the aircraft, while cargo handling is managed by the company dnata. The flights take place during the day and are operated by a Boeing B747-400F.

There are plans to increase frequencies on the route, which will enable cargo capacity to be increased. Maersk is also looking into expanding its activities on other routes from Cologne/Bonn. The subsidiary Maersk Air Cargo's own aircraft could be used on these routes.
