Icelandair has renewed its long-standing ULD Management Agreement with ACL Airshop for a new five-year term, reinforcing a trusted partnership built on operational performance, transparency, and continuous fleet optimization in line with Icelandair and Icelandair Cargo’s growth. The renewal reflects the next phase of a deeply integrated collaboration supporting Icelandair’s passenger and cargo operations across its international network.
A Fully Integrated ULD Solution
Under the renewed agreement, ACL Airshop continues to provide a comprehensive full-service ULD management program covering dedicated fleet management for scheduled operations, access to ACL’s short term ULDs for charter operations, global MRO services across ACL’s certified repair network, net and consumables provision, logistics coordination, and advanced ULD management software supported by next generation tracking technology.
Over the years, ACL Airshop has supported Icelandair with a fully dedicated and digitised ULD fleet combined with embedded operational oversight, ensuring that ULDs are positioned in the right place, at the right time, and in the right condition.
Operational Performance Through Logistics & Digital Control
Icelandair will benefit from upgraded and enhanced digital tracking solutions, integrated IATA messaging, detailed movement history, and data-driven analytics that enhance visibility and automation across the ULD lifecycle. Continuous monitoring and proactive asset intervention allow imbalances, damages, and availability challenges to be addressed before they impact operations.
ACL’s global services, particularly MRO capabilities at key Icelandair destinations and hubs such as Liège and New York, combined with dedicated ULD controllers ensures high fleet utilization and operational stability throughout the network. The fully dedicated fleet is further supplemented by ACL Airshop’s global short-term lease inventory, providing flexibility for out-of-network requirements, seasonal peaks, and charter operations.
Addition of Horse Stalls into the ULD Fleet Portfolio
Following several years of successful collaboration in equine transport, Icelandair has expanded its long-term dedicated ULD portfolio to include horse stalls.
This addition reflects Icelandair’s strong position in specialized animal transport and highlights ACL Airshop’s expertise in horse stall ULD supply, maintenance, and global logistics coordination - a niche segment requiring precision handling, careful asset control, and global positioning capability.
A Performance-Driven Partnership
The renewed agreement is built on jointly defined efficiency-driven KPIs, ensuring transparency, measurable performance, and continuous improvement across the ULD supply chain. The partnership continues to focus on fleet optimization, with stock levels continuously aligned to operational demand, evolving network requirements, and performance targets.
This renewed agreement further reinforces ACL Airshop’s standing as a key player in the international air cargo market and reflects the increasing demand among major airlines for comprehensive, integrated ULD management solutions.
