China Airlines and Boeing have announced a significant expansion of the airline’s cargo capabilities with a firm order for four Boeing 777-8 Freighters. This strategic investment is part of a broader commitment to Boeing's advanced 777X family and reflects China Airlines’ ongoing leadership in global air cargo operations.
In addition to the confirmed order, China Airlines has secured options for four additional 777-8 Freighters, positioning the carrier to further strengthen its fleet flexibility and future growth potential.
“As a long-time operator of Boeing freighters, the addition of the 777-8 Freighter underscores our commitment to offering efficient, sustainable, and high-capacity cargo solutions,” said Kao Shing-Hwang, Chairman of China Airlines. “This aircraft’s industry-leading fuel efficiency and payload performance will enable us to uphold our leadership in the cargo sector while advancing our long-term sustainability goals.”
“We are honored to welcome China Airlines as the latest customer for the 777-8 Freighter,” said Brad McMullen, Boeing Senior Vice President of Commercial Sales and Marketing. “Their continued trust in Boeing underscores our shared vision for a more efficient and sustainable air cargo future.”
With this order, China Airlines joins a select group of global carriers to operate both the passenger and freighter variants of the 777X family. The airline also has 787 Dreamliners on order, enhancing its world-class fleet and reinforcing its commitment to innovation, efficiency, and environmental responsibility.
