Awery Aviation Software is the first digital platform to integrate the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) emissions calculations tool, IATA CO2 Connect for Cargo, to provide the air cargo industry with standardised, accurate emissions data.
Awery has embedded CO2 Connect for Cargo into its Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform, enabling users to access reliable, flight-specific carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions data directly within their preexisting workflows.
Launched at the beginning of this year, CO2 Connect for Cargo uses airline-contributed operational data, including aircraft type-specific fuel burn, cargo load factors, and passenger load factors, to calculate accurate emissions at shipment level, rather than relying on generic industry averages.
As of February 2026, more than 100 airlines provide primary operational data to the overall CO2 Connect platform, including dedicated cargo carriers.
“Integrating CO2 Connect for Cargo into the Awery ERP platform equips our customers with trusted, standardised emissions data directly within the systems they use every day,” said Vitaly Smilianets, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Awery.
“Providing emissions data that reflects real operational performance is something the industry has needed for a long time, and we are proud to be the first platform to deliver this capability, working closely with IATA and our users to further enhance transparency across the air cargo industry.”
The CO2 Connect calculator, aligned with international standards such as IATA Recommended Practice 1678 (RP1678), ISO14083, and Smart Freight Centre’s GLEC Framework 3.2, is intended to address reporting requirements and track progress to sustainability targets.
“With the introduction of IATA CO2 Connect for Cargo we are now able to provide per-shipment emissions data and support the expectations for greater transparency as airlines progress towards net zero carbon emissions by 2050,” said Frederic Leger, Senior Vice President, IATA Product & Services.
“IATA CO2 Connect has established itself as the only carbon calculator for air travel emissions that is based on operational data from more than 100 airlines and aligned with global standards such as ISO14083.
“We are pleased to have Awery onboard to make sure this information is widely available across the air cargo industry.”
The development of CO2 Connect for Cargo reflects feedback gathered during a 2025 pilot phase involving freight forwarders, shippers and technology companies, including Awery, ensuring the calculator meets practical operational requirements while delivering greater CO2 data transparency.
