Singapore Airlines Enhances Cold Chain Cargo Handling Capabilities With New Envirotainer Releye® RLP Container

Singapore Airlines (SIA) has boosted its cargo handling capabilities with the addition of Envirotainer’s state-of-the-art temperature controlled Releye® RLP container. This will allow SIA to offer airfreight customers a new technologically advanced cold chain solution, which provides live monitoring access, volume optimisation for cost efficiency, and enhanced temperature stability.

The Envirotainer Releye® RLP has been approved for use on board SIA’s freighter and passenger aircraft. This temperature-controlled container is powered by rechargeable batteries, and can maintain the shipment’s integrity for over 170 hours on a single charge. Its fully integrated live monitoring system allows customers to track and monitor various aspects of the shipment’s condition such as location, temperature, and humidity, as well as the battery levels of the unit.

These containers will enhance SIA’s capabilities in the transportation of time-sensitive and temperature-controlled pharmaceutical cargo, especially on key global trade lanes.

Mr Chin Yau Seng, SIA’s Senior Vice President Cargo, said: “Singapore Airlines has always been driven to continuously improve its THRUCOOL capabilities. Envirotainer’s new Releye® RLP adds to our repertoire of cold chain solutions. These new containers, coupled with our extensive global network, will bring new standards to the handling of critical pharmaceutical cargo shipments. This is timely, given the importance of the safe and reliable transportation of pharmaceuticals amid the current pandemic.”

Mr Don Harrison, Head of Global Key Accounts, Airlines, at Envirotainer said: “We are delighted to welcome Singapore Airlines to the family of airline partners that have approved the Releye® RLP. Singapore Airlines can now expand their pharmaceutical THRUCOOL offering with the most secure and fully connected active solution.”
