After four decades in the aviation and air cargo industry, Jan Krems, United Cargo President will retire from the airline at the end of September, marking the conclusion of a distinguished career that helped shape the growth of United Cargo.
During his tenure, United Cargo strengthened its commercial performance, expanded its global network, advanced innovation and deepened customer relationships worldwide. One of the most significant achievements came during the COVID-19 pandemic, when United became the first carrier to operate cargo-only flights using passenger aircraft. The airline subsequently operated more than 17,000 cargo-only flights, supporting the company through an unprecedented period for global aviation.
Under his leadership, United Cargo has established itself as a major player in the air freight industry, with revenue performance reported at approximately twice that of its nearest U.S. competitor.
Chris Busch has been named as his successor and will take over as President of United Cargo. Busch will lead the airline's global cargo organization, overseeing sales and marketing, revenue management, customer service, operational performance, product development and technology initiatives.
A 19-year United veteran, Busch brings extensive experience across the airline's commercial operations and cargo business. He has played a key role in driving commercial growth across the Americas while strengthening operational performance and customer relationships.
Jan said he is confident that Busch is well positioned to build on the strong foundation established at United Cargo and guide the business through its next phase of growth.
