Geert Aerts new Director Cargo & Logistics at Brussels Airport

On 8 March, Geert Aerts will succeed Steven Polmans as Director Cargo & Logistics at Brussels Airport. With his extensive management experience in a global company, his knowledge of aviation and his experience with working in a complex environment with many stakeholders, Brussels Airport found Geert Aerts to be the suitable candidate to continue the strong cargo strategy of recent years and to further develop Brucargo, in close cooperation with the cargo community.

"I am looking forward to joining the team at Brussels Airport and further develop the cargo activities together with the Brucargo community, clients and partners. I have always followed Brucargo with interest and I am eager and ambitious to continue this work and further grow the cargo community at Brussels Airport.", says Geert Aerts.

"Cargo is an important cornerstone in the strategy and development of Brussels Airport, and under the leadership of our new Director we will continue work on the redevelopment of Brucargo as a zone, with a focus on specialisation and digitisation. We continue to invest in a strong and dedicated team for our Cargo & Logistics activities to support the entire industry. We look forward to welcoming Geert Aerts to our community in March.", says Piet Demunter, Chief Business Development Officer at Brussels Airport.

Every year, about 650 000 tonnes of cargo is shipped through Brussels Airport. Brussels Airport is Europe's preferred airport for the transport of pharmaceuticals and Brucargo plays a crucial role in the current pandemic, as the main pharma hub for the vaccine transport in Europe.
