Frankfurt Airport recorded a 2.5 percent year-on-year increase in cargo throughput, comprising airfreight and airmail, to 174,773 metric tons in September, reflecting continued growth in cargo volumes handled at Germany’s largest aviation hub.
In contrast, aircraft movements declined by 3.5 percent year-on-year to 40,539 takeoffs and landings during the month. The decrease was largely attributable to a 25.2 percent reduction in flights to and from domestic destinations within Germany, particularly following the suspension of services to Bremen and Stuttgart.
Accumulated maximum takeoff weights (MTOWs) also registered a decline, decreasing by 1.2 percent year-on-year to approximately 2.5 million metric tons in September. The September figures highlight contrasting developments at Frankfurt Airport, with cargo throughput continuing to grow despite lower aircraft movements and a reduction in overall accumulated MTOWs.
