As of May 1, Diogo Elias, who had served as Senior Vice President of Avianca Cargo since 2023, has taken on the role of CEO of the company.

In his new position, Elias will lead Avianca Cargo’s strategy for growth, strengthening, and innovation, ensuring that the company maintains the value proposition that has solidified its status as one of the region’s leading air cargo carriers. He will drive key initiatives such as fleet expansion, operational network enhancement, investment in digitalization, and the development of new markets.

Additionally, under Elias’ leadership, Avianca Cargo will remain focused on operational excellence and the implementation of high standards, which have earned company recognition as one of the top six cargo airlines worldwide. Over Elias’ two-year tenure, Avianca Cargo has been acknowledged as one of the six best cargo airlines globally—the only Latin American carrier to make the list according to the ACNA index. His leadership has driven significant advancements in building a consistent service portfolio, expanding the network, and growing strategic markets such as the United States. In this market, Avianca Cargo achieved a historic record with 25 direct connections from Miami.
