DHL has unveiled its 777 passenger-to-freighter conversion, enhancing long-haul cargo capability in the DHL global network. The pioneering aircraft is on display at the Farnborough International Airshow, with four aircraft planned to enter service this year, and a total commitment of thirteen in coming years.
The introduction of the Boeing 777-200 Long-Range Mammoth Freighter into the DHL fleet follows an extensive international engineering and conversion programme, representing a significant capital investment in sustainable air cargo infrastructure. By converting existing passenger airframes rather than purchasing newly manufactured aircraft, DHL reduces the raw material use and structural manufacturing footprint typically associated with fleet expansion. The transformation of a former passenger plane is a prime example of circular economy principles in aviation.
