According to the 2025 annual results of the Cathay Group, cargo remained an important pillar of the airline group’s overall performance during the year. The Group reported strong financial results for 2025, achieving an attributable profit of HK$10.8 billion compared with HK$9.9 billion in 2024, supported in part by resilient cargo demand alongside increased flight capacity and solid passenger load factors. Within this context, Cathay Cargo continued to play a strategic role in supporting the Group’s network and revenue base. The cargo division is focusing on adapting to evolving market dynamics by maintaining close dialogue with customers and leveraging Cathay’s extensive global network to deploy capacity where demand is strongest. The company emphasized that it will remain agile in responding to shifts in the air cargo market while continuing to build on its core strengths that differentiate it within the competitive global cargo sector.

Commenting on the Group’s overall performance and outlook, Patrick Healy highlighted the company’s progress in rebuilding and strengthening its operations over the past three years. He stated that 2025 marked the Group’s third consecutive year of solid financial performance, reflecting the dedication of its teams and providing a strong foundation for sustainable growth. He also noted that the Group remains confident about its future at the centre of the Hong Kong international aviation hub, with plans to expand flight frequencies and destinations that will also contribute to increased cargo capacity. This strategic expansion is expected to further support Cathay Cargo’s ability to respond to demand and reinforce Hong Kong’s role as a major global air cargo gateway.
